How Mobile Hybrid Battery Replacement Works
One of the most common reactions we get when people find out we do mobile installations is: "Wait — you can actually replace a hybrid battery in a parking lot?" Yes, we can. And it's not just possible — it's actually a smoother experience than dropping your car off at a shop for two days.
Here's exactly what the process looks like from the moment you contact us to the moment you drive away.
1. Get Your Quote
Start at buffalobattery.org. Use the instant quote tool to select your vehicle, choose a warranty (12, 24, or 48 months), and enter your state. You'll see the exact price including tax — no hidden fees, no email required. If you'd rather talk it through, give us a txt or call at 984-282-6319.
2. Schedule Your Appointment
Once you're ready, you'll put down a $250 deposit to get on the schedule. That deposit is fully refundable if you cancel more than 24 hours before your appointment. We'll contact you to confirm a 2-hour window for the installation at a location that works for you — your home, your workplace, wherever the car is parked.
3. The Day of the Install
A Buffalo Battery technician arrives at your location with everything needed for the job. Here's what happens during the appointment:
Code verification: Before anything is removed, we scan your vehicle's diagnostic codes to confirm what we're dealing with and flag anything else that might be present.
Battery removal: We access the hybrid battery — typically located under the rear seat or in the cargo area — and remove the original pack.
Fan cleaning (free): While the battery area is open, we offer to clean your hybrid cooling fan. This takes a few extra minutes and significantly improves the longevity of your new battery by ensuring proper airflow.
New battery installation: Your reconditioned Buffalo Battery goes in with new nickel-plated hardware and a brand-new voltage sensing harness.
Test drive: We test drive the vehicle to confirm the hybrid system is operating correctly and the warning lights have cleared. The HV control system needs to verify balanced voltage across all modules before it's satisfied — the test drive confirms that.
Final confirmation: We let you know what we found, what we did, and walk you through anything else the scan revealed. You pay the remaining balance and you're on your way.
What You Need to Do to Prepare
Clear out the back seat and trunk area so the technician has clean access to the battery compartment
Make sure the car is in a location with a reasonably flat surface
Have your codes ready if you've already had the car scanned — or we can scan it on arrival
Be present (or have someone present) to do the final test drive sign-off
How Long Does It Take?
Most installations are completed in 1 to 1.5 hours. We ask for a 2-hour window to account for any unexpected findings or code-clearing time. You can usually plan around it — grab a coffee, work from home, or just hang out nearby.
What About Bad Weather?
Our technicians carry a canopy and work in light to moderate rain without issue. If conditions are unsafe — heavy lightning, dangerous wind, severe flooding — we'll reach out to reschedule. We've done installs in light drizzle, summer heat, and cold mornings. Weather rarely stops us.
